A 31.18 km RTP subsea natural gas pipeline is being developed from Mangkudulis Besar Island through the Sesayap River to Tarakan Island to meet growing gas demand. The pipeline will transport 4 MMSCFD of gas from the Bangkudulis Gas Field, owned by Pertamina EP, to PT Phoenix Resources International, a hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) plant.
With reserves sustaining 12.5 years of production, the gas will be integrated into existing infrastructure under a 10-year contract, ensuring safe operations through the presented comprehensive risk assessment.
The scope of work includes identifying hazards that may pose a threat to the subsea pipeline, based on data acquisition and prior assessment results, followed by a qualitative screening of those threats. For each identified threat, all potential failure modes will be systematically evaluated. A consequence analysis will be conducted to determine the impact severity of each hazard, complemented by a frequency analysis to estimate the likelihood of occurrence. These analyses will then be integrated to assess risk levels in accordance with DNV standards. Additionally, the scope includes supporting the client in securing a construction permit from the Directorate General of Sea Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia (Dirjen Perhubungan Laut RI).
